USL Golden Jubilee ends
Tuguegarao City - February 11, 2016 saw momentous events – the opening of the 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet and the opening of the 51st Founding Anniversary of the University of Saint Louis (USL) coinciding with the closing of its Golden Jubilee.
Delegates to the Friendship Meet include students, administrators, faculty, and coaches from the following CICM schools: Saint Louis College-Cebu (Mandaue City, Cebu); Saint Louis College (San Fernando City, La Union); Saint Louis University (Baguio City); Saint Mary’s University (Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya); and University of Saint Louis (Tuguegarao City).
Before the program proper, a Eucharistic Celebration was held at the University Sports Field. It was presided by Tuguegarao Archbishop Sergio L. Utleg and graced by the presence of other invited Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae (CICM) and Diocesan Priests.

Rev. Fr. Ramon P. Caluza, CICM, the CICM Philippines Provincial Superior, gave the Homily by using John 15:9-17 as basis: “…This is my command, love each other…” and reminding the delegates and USL students that “...This is a Friendship Meet; we will compete in the different organized events. We will give our best but not to put down the other, but rather to strengthen our bond as one school, one brotherhood…” (Click here for the Homily
The 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet is held with the theme: “Makkorofun, Makkarauffun,” Ybanag words for friendship and support, respectively.

Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Louis Vuadi, CICM, author and composer of the many songs sung during the Mass, was also present to conduct the USL Campus Ministry Choir.
Towards the end of the Mass, the winners of the CICM schools friendship meet song lyrics and melody composition contests, Mr. Cirilo R. Parallag Jr. (USL employee) and Mr. Joshua Benedict A. Cabalonga (USL student), respectively, were recognized by Rev. Fr. Rex C. Salvilla, CICM Liaison Officer in USL, and were awarded with plaques of recognition by the USL Acting President, Dr. Delailah B. Valencia.
After the Mass, the delegates had their dinner in their respective quarters in the University campus.
The delegates, who previously assembled inside the USL-Ter Meer Gymnasium, paraded through the University Sports Field with their cheers and yells as the emcees introduced their schools and locality.

The USL-Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA) led the Doxology and Filipinism.
Dr. Valencia gave her words of welcome. Then, Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, Chair of the CICM Provincial Committee on Education and President of Saint Mary’s University (SMU), delivered his message.
The USL-CCA members presented a Friendship Dance with the artists wearing the colors and symbols of the different participating CICM schools. The lighting of the friendship and foundation flames followed.
The four presidents of the CICM schools (Rev. Fr. Sta. Ana of SMU; Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, of SLC-SFLU and SLU; Dr. Valencia of USL; and Rev. Fr. Fernold G. Denna, CICM, of SLC-Cebu) light the friendship flame.
As USL is now on its 51 years of existence, the USL Golden Jubilee flag retreated and the flags of the CICM schools were hoisted by their respective presidents.
Rev. Fr. Sta. Ana thereafter declared the opening of the meet while Dr. Valencia announced the closing of the Golden Jubilee celebration and the opening of USL’s 51st Founding Anniversary.
After the declarations, a countdown began for the musical pyrotechnic show featuring the USL Hymn and the winning CICM Schools Friendship Meet Song, “One Mission, One Journey.”
Mr. Robert M. Dy, USL Sports Coordinator, led the CICM delegates for the Oath of Amateurism preluding to the much-awaited Jump Street Competition of the USL Founding Anniversary celebration.
