TUGUEGARAO CITY - After a successful run in the 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet, powerhouse Saint Louis University (SLU) dismantled the host team University of Saint Louis (USL), 13-0 in a battle of powerful batting techniques and game plans in the softball championship game at the Cagayan Sports Complex, Feb. 14, 2016.

SLU (2-0) notched the final game with a triumphant 2-0, 9-1 and 13-0 innings and never let USL (1-1) back to its potent defense.

Anchored on their undisputed team chemistry, an exciting start in the first inning revived the fading chants and hurrahs of the mammoth sports enthusiasts as SLU's defense disrupted the offensive onslaught of USL in the field.

Much-determined USL tried to overpower SLU's defensive game through explosive hits but still unable to overcome the tough game tactics of their opponent resulting in 0-2 loss in the first inning.

Sturdy SLU continued their performance by boosting their softball prowess forcing their team into multiple homeruns. However, short-handed USL managed to return by dropping a single-point in the second inning after SLU clawed their second straight victory in the game, 9-1.

"The squad needs more energy and determination. SLU kills us inch by inch through their well-executed plays. We need to be more aggressive," uttered by USL Coach Randolf Maladrigo, alarmed by the feisty opponents during a timeout.

SLU, beating Saint Mary's University (SMU) last Feb. 13, unleashed their powerful execution on the field as their triumvirate - Almacen, Cuizon and Chua - led the way of SLU into a 10-0 blitz outhustling USL in the third inning. SLU put their finishing touch in the final game as they nailed a 13-0 output over USL.

"We're glad to see these ladies performing very well and as a mentor, I am proud to coach this team. Our sacrifices and hard work are priceless. Thank you for a good fight, USL," said by SLU coach Antonio de Vera.

SLU finished with a tournament, best 2 wins-0 loss, after taking down USL, 21-1 and SMU, 21-3. On the other hand, USL ripped out SMU to post a 1 win-1 loss record in the tournament.
