Tuguegarao City – University of Saint Louis spoiled Saint Louis College - San Fernando, La Union in four consecutive sets of table tennis to haul supreme in the game opener of Table Tennis – Men’s Division in the 5th CICM Schools Meet Friendship Meet at James Ter Meer Gymnasium, University of Saint Louis, Feb. 11, 2016.

John Paolo Danga (USL) dominated Christian Leonell Torres (SLC-SFLU) as the former boosted his vintage gameplays and flashy smashes to topple the sets to – 11-7, 11-3, 11-7 and 11-4 – leading his way to advance in the second phase of the elimination round.

Energized by the resounding chants and hurrahs of the crowd, Danga unleashed his electrifying floor presence and game tactics in the first set leading to an enormous 8-4 lead, but Torres roared back for his last stand on the first set through 3-0 run, still unable to defeat Danga, 11-7.

The USL pride began to dismantle SLC-SFLU in the second set by letting the struggling Torres score for only three points through his explosive attacks and flashy placing, 11-3.

“Winning the first two sets is already a morale booster for me. I want to continue this kind of momentum until the end of the game,” said Danga during the timeout.

Determined to outhustle his opponent, Danga started to blast his assault against the frustrated Torres by his powerful services and smashes to post a 5-2 mark on the score board until both players tied at 7 in the midway of the third set. However, Danga’s experience in crunch time took his momentum to secure the victory, 11-7.

Danga’s explosive game continued to disrupt the confidence of Torres in the fourth set by bombarding the SLC-SFLU delegate, posting an early six-point lead, 6-0. The set ended 11-4.

“This victory serves as a fruit of my hard work and dedication in the game. It is my pleasure to represent the University’s precious name in field of Table Tennis,” said by the victorious Danga.
