SLU tops Taekwondo tourney, bags 15 gold medals

The excellent techniques and exceptional skills of the Saint Louis University (SLU) Taekwondo team soared and outdid the other teams as it finished in victory with a total gold medal count of 20 during the 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet Taekwondo Tournament held at the Tuguegarao West Central School Gymnasium, Feb. 13, 2016.

Beating the other teams with its taekwondokas’ powerful kicks and quick hits, SLU garnered 15 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, University of Saint Louis (USL) went next as its taekwondo players bagged 6, 7 and 5 gold, silver and bronze medals respectively and followed by Saint Mary’s University (SMU), earning 1 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals. Saint Louis College-San Fernando City, La Union (SLC-SFLU) settled with 3 silver and 6 bronze medals.

The tournament consisted of the junior and senior levels in both men and women, which were parted into Finweight, Flyweight, Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight divisions.
