USL leads SLC-SFLU in College Volleyball Women, 3-1

University of Saint Louis (USL) leads Saint Louis College-San Fernando City, La Union (SLC-SFLU), 3-1, in the Women Volleyball Tournament-College Division held during the 5th CICM Schools Friendship Meet at USL, Tuguegarao City, Feb. 12, 2016.

SLC-SFLU started the opening set, with a 7-2 start. USL responded with an 11-1 scoring run, forcing SLC-SFLU to call their first timeout. USL finished the first set with the score, 25-12.

Another strong start by SLC-SFLU opens the second set. USL countered with their own initial run, giving them the leading score. SLC-SFLU falls to USL, 25-19, as the second set comes to an end.

The SLC-SFLU team started the third set with a sense of desperation, as they started the set strongly with a 9-4 lead, forcing USL to call their second timeout.

USL responded to SLC-SFLU with a scoring run that tied the game, 15-15, midway through the set. The offence of USL continued as they captured the 2-point lead, 20-22. SLC-SFLU responded with 5 consecutive points to capture the set, 25-23.

The home team started the fourth set with a strong 3-10 start. SLC-SFLU returned the favour with a 5-0 scoring run to bring their team within striking distance. USL high calibre offence kicked in to enable them to pull away and gain victory, 25-15, in convincing fashion.

Both teams will look forward within the next days as they will face the other CICM schools for the first place in the Women’s Volleyball, College Division.
