BSHTM students train in Malaysia

The University sent five Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management students to the Franjipani Resort and Spa in Lankawi, Malaysia through a collaborative effort with the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

Lyca Calipdan, Trixie Estal, Lizbeth Joy Jacinto, Jesusa Maria Mirar, and Justine Paguirigan stayed in Malaysia from March 15 to May 30, 2013, serving in the said resort and spa.

The students were required to meet certain requirements before being cleared for Malaysia including being skilled in communicating in English, having financial capability, passing physical and mental examinations, and meeting strict academic standards.

“In doing this, the school hopes to expose Louisian students to international standards in the hospitality and tourism field,” said Mrs. Alicia Tuliao, dean of the College of Tourism and Technical-Vocational Education.

“USL plans to continue its collaboration with UUM, and of course, with other international institutions. And this extends not only to our students from CTVEd,” Mrs. Tuliao added.
