First sem academic seminar aims at research intensification
Consistent with the University’s threefold function of instruction, research and extension, the University conducted an academic seminar last June 26 and 27, 2013 which revolved around the theme: “Bringing Research to Higher Heights.”
The one-and-a-half day activity was aimed at further enhancing the faculty members’ capability and confidence in conducting qualitative or action research.
The activity was ably facilitated by Professor Cecilia Suarez of the Ateneo de Manila University and participated in by the faculty members across all levels in the University.
The Vice-President for Academics, Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, emphasized in his opening remarks the need for the University to be a maker and purveyor of knowledge, hence the need to capacitate all teachers once again.
Dr. Pattaguan further stressed in his remarks that the true test of the existence of a research culture in the University of Saint Louis is not only the presence of leaders and structures but most importantly the enhancement of research productivity through the utilization of research findings by the academic community and its eventual presentation and publication locally and internationally.
As an output, all faculty members in attendance submitted proposed topics and abstracts of plans along possible areas of study.
